Hippocampus

The hippocampal formation is located in the middle surface of the temporal lobe. Cortex receives data, which in turn sends neural signals to the hypothalamus and the septal area through the fornix .
The main function of the hippocampus is the memory consolidation and learning. An injury in this area produces amnesia anterograde , or of the aconecimientos after the injury occurred, thus affecting the memories of specific events, but curiously does not affect the learning of new skills or abilities. For example, a person could learn to ride a bike after injury, but not remember ever seeing a bike.
